Raphael at I CAN READ
Raphael officially started the I CAN READ class at Rivervale mall last sunday..we are "concerned" that he will lose interest in English if we dont get him started..we converse mainly in Chinese at home and with Raphael, and his chinese is very strong.. English? we find that he can understand and sing in English, pronounciation is also clear..but when it comes to conversation and reading, he is seriously lacking.. He may be only 3, but language is best mastered young when their mind is most absorbent. On his 1st lesson, he picked up "the man is in the van".. Not bombastic but at least it's in "England"... Gabriel's 1st teeth
date : 23rd July 2011 its supposed to be gabriel's vaccination today and during his checkup by Doc Allyson Tan, she found that gabriel is already teething..we can see his 1st teeth sprouting on his gum..maybe that explains why he is "grinding" his gums more vigourously past week..  .  the Doc sighted a teeth sprouting under his gum..Yeah!   . Caleb ONE year old celebration
Caleb turns ONE on Monday 25th July..his birthday party and house warming is held on the same day on Saturday..its a hot hot afternoon with light breeze..its the kids who had a good time as Raphael enjoyed himself playing at the playground, interacting with his cousins..he spent a good 2 hours under the hot sun and just keep requesting for cold cold water to quence his thirst and continuing playing..poor daddy had to keep him company, to watch over him.. Daddy is telling Raphael to help caleb blow his birthday cake's candle..but raphael says to daddy "cannot, caleb will blow his own candle" haha..   the "1st" family haha  caleb blowing candle, assisted by daddy and grandpa  enjoying his birthday cupcake   all of caleb's aunties..wheres the guys? Passport for the boys!
at last, submitted the passport application for the boys..next up will be a short trip in Sept to Johor for a day trip..and next in plan will be Disney HK in Dec! hope the HK trip can materialise, which we are sure Raphael will enjoy..he has been bugging us to bring him to sit aeroplane and take cable car to see Mickey.. Home-made cookie experience
been ages since we last made cookies..raphael loves to play plasticine where he will create his own "food" or objects..for this session, he is not afraid to get his hands dirty as he helped to shape the cookies into round balls..next will be shortcake type of biscuits where he can use mould to cut the shapes out.. the cookies we made today is more "famous amos" type haha..will melt into a round circle when baked..so cant shape it with mould lor     Newer Posts <- -> Older Posts
Training Independence
daddy gave Raphael $2 and ask him to buy his favourite OCK chicken mushroom puff..he is initially shy and stood infront of the stall waving his money..but dun dare to approach the stall or the auntie to tell them what he wants.. but once he caught the atttention of the auntie who beckon him over, he is brave enough to walk up to the counter and tell them what he wants and patiently wait for his purchase. After that, he took his change before rushing back to daddy's side..more of such independence training to come for him :) Maybe we will try Macdonalds next loitering infront of the stall making his approach got his loot and change Newer Posts <- -> Older Posts
Raphael's Dentist visit
Dentist visit again! Guess it will be a 6 monthly affair for Raphael as he has a cavity on his molar..since he is not able to endure the pain of drilling to fix a more permanent filling, the Doc had to use those easier to apply type of filling without drilling...the downside is that its not as lasting.. He is very used to visting this Dentist which we tell him he's mummy's friend who is here to "catch" the worm in his mouth..he will gladly open his mouth for the doctor to check and fill his cavity..see the video below of him practicing opening his mouth and also the actual process of filling his cavity.. Gabriel Starting cereal at 5mth 3 weeks
We started Gabriel on semi-solids this week at 5 months and 3 weeks old..we noticed he has been salivating at our food and seems keen to try..he is nearing 6mths old at recommended age to start cereal. Unlike Raphael (his elder brother), gabriel seems to like the cereal and pear puree mummy painstakingly prepared for him..he really enjoy it and can finish his portion..when he is ready..we will try durian haha.. Raphael's role playing - soldier\police
As what a boy should be, raphael loves guns and acting macho..since daddy demonstrate to him how to put the gun into his waist band, he has been using his waist band as a holder until daddy told him that he will get a proper belt to hold his gun..and this request is registered in his mind for the past 2 weeks..every now and then he will ask daddy where is his "belt" this sunday, daddy finally decided to DIY a gun holster for him..using mummy's old belt, daddy twist and turn and viola! a nice gun holster for our Super Raphael "thats what he call himself" he is so proud of his new holster that he wears his helmet to complete his image..today he is going out as a policeman to catch baddies..although he is dressed more like a soldier..  attention! soldier  Salute Soldier!  hello Mr Soldier  imaginary gun in hand  wearing his handicraft  raphael's tea time treat...cheezels Newer Posts <- -> Older Posts
Godpa Bennett and Family - 11 July 2011
The kid's new Hungarian friend..child of their daddy's colleague..the boy is around the same age as Ian. The video below shows yvette encouraging her parents to keep going in the game.."you can do it..go mummy..go daddy" she really sounds like an adult..on your speaker and hear her live commentary haha.. listen to the end part when she tells mummy she is winning and daddy is losing..but when mummy corrected her that it seems daddy is winning, she goes "oohoh.." its kids behaviour to take such things seriously that warrants the "oohoh" haha the family is enjoying their new xbox kinect...makes mummy and daddy heart itch itch..also want to get one to play with raphael..hmm..what games will raphael live? bowling, shooting, boxing haha...all boys game.. listen to yvette encouraging her parents in the game.. ian interacting with his new friend  the kids' new Hungarian friend Newer Posts <- -> Older Posts

Layhoon Ah Yee's birthday
for the past month of June, Auntie Layhoon has been the official care takers of Raphael and Gabriel together with Granny phay..this Fri is her xx years birthday and mummy got a yummylicious hazelnet chocolate cake from EmiCakes for the simple candle blowing.. Gabriel at 5 months plus
Last month has been a month of extreme for Gabriel..for a good 1 month, he has been "suffering" from irregular bowel movement, he will only release once around 8-10 days..just when he bowel movement returns to normal, he suffered from diarrhea.. He has since recovered, excepts for some rashes on his body which is normal due to his body fighting the bad germs..he is growing well with strong and steady head movement, lying on tummy and doing full flips and turn.. He is also experimenting with his vocal power..he will shriek out loud when excited, make noise to attract attention..he will also use his hands to imitate actions he saw on tv..so far all developments are on track..he is a heavy baby at ~8.5kg at 5 months..  tummy time, head lifted high.  his hair is growing out well..nice and thick..
