Home Deco after 6 years
Its close to 7 years since we 1st got this house..in early 2005 while we started our house hunting, we didnt limit our options..we tried to ballot for flats in Redhill, Tiong Bahru, Buangkok to no avail..the price of those in the matured estate are also very high..at that time, property is starting to pick up again..we got into the market as we are genuinely looking for a flat to live in and not to "invest" or "speculate" Of course close to my heart, I am hoping to live near to my parents in Hougang, Sengkang area..we happen to chance upon some Executive Flats (133sqm) in Sengkang Compassvale area which have been left vacant for 5 years since TOP in 2001..maybe its due to the type of the flat..4-5 rooms are the norm..EA seem to be less popular then..the EAs in the whole block is not taken while the 4-5 rooms are fully occupied.. We visited the showflat and liked the layout and the size of the flat..the most important is that the price suits our budget..i think we entered the market at its lowest as the price of flats seems to be on the upward the moment we signed on the dotted line with HDB..price and size of flat wise, we never regretted it.. We spend minimum to renovate the house..approximately $20K was all we could afford then excluding furnitures and electronic applicances..we only did the basic necessary like kitchen and room wardrobe..I prefer to buy pieces of furniture to add on rather than have it all fabricated and fixed.. Looking at the pictures of the house then and now..we can see how the the deco theme remains more or less fixed, with some changes to pieces of furniture.. 2006 - when we first got the keys to our flat..raw look  the foyer area  passage way to the rooms  Gekeng standing at study room which is being hacked to expand into Dining room  the kitchen which has 2 exit  Dining Area  Kitchen  Master room floor is overlay with parquet  Proud owners  Study room before hacking away the walls to expand the dining  small Balcony   entrance area, we can see one of the entrance to the kitchen is sealed Our Designer who helped to conceptualise our kitchen and living room..  the kitchen concept is adapted 100%  the living room concept with the focus on the ceiling cornice..wanted a classical look which i think we managed to achieve 2006 - Our house when we 1st moved in after marriage.. Updates from Canada - Feb 2013
Bennett and Family is coming back to Singapore on the 3rd March with Bennett going back (alone) on the 23rd March..the kids will be staying in Singapore for 3-4 months before going back to Canada in June (we think)..in Dec, the family will be back for good with Godpa Bennett completing his posting..
Gabriel is really missing his Yvette jie jie and Ian kor kor..Raphael misses them alot too..really looking to see the kids meeting each other and enjoying each other's company

Charis 1YO Birthday Celebration
Charis's early celebration for her 1YO was held at Sengkang Park's Mushroom cafe over 2 nights..The lcoation is quiet and has lots of space for the guest to hang around..its a change from usual indoor venue..
Day 1 is for relatives and Day 2 is for more "happening" crowd of kids and youngsters..there are even Bouncy castle and pool of plastic balls..Raphael enjoys the 1st day so much that he even drags the whole family down for the 2nd night..a little while becomes a full 2 1/2 hrs stay..
