Back log School Work Saga
The word that we used to describe not going to school without valid reason is "ponten" (not sure how to spell or if its a real English word). There were 2 days last week when Raphael missed school..1st day was when Daddy brought him out on his off day..2nd day was when we brought him for a dentist visit..
When he got his books back from school for the term break, we looked through them and found about 4 pages are blank and marked as "absent"..so we asked him to complete the work he missed during the 2 days away from school..
He sat on his chair, arms on the table and frowned..
he reasoned: "its daddy who brought me out that's why i didn't go to school and missed doing the work..its not my fault that i didn't do the work..its daddy's fault..ask him to do!!"
he really knows how to apportion the blame..in the end..mummy needs to entice him by offering him a nice hot bowl of koka laksa noodle and fried egg as a reward and he gladly completed the 4 page of writing under 10mins..
thinking how to finish so much back log of writing
overcame the psychological barrier and started working

Visiting the Dentist
Date : 13th March 2013
Visiting the dentist can also be a family event..we all booked our appt back to back..the kids from 930-1000am..the parents from 1000-1030am..
Learning the hard way, after suffering so much pain for not taking good care of our teeths..we definitely wont let the kids suffer the same..so apart from getting them to brush their teeth daily, rinse mouth after drinking\eating sweet stuffs..we also brought them for a 1/2 yearly check..
Raphael got 4 cavity on his molars..and today's check found the filling still in place..and so he just need to do some polishing and cleaning..he is very coorperative and the check is over within 10mins..
For gabriel, this is his 1st visit and we ask Kor Kor to be a good example for gabriel..and it seems to work as Gabriel also willingly opens his mouth for the Dentist to check and he is given all clear..not even need to polish or clean..only incur consultation charges haha..
Proud of the 2 boys for not kicking up any fuss when getting their teeths checked..

Day out at SEA Aquarium@RWS
Date : 13th March 2013
We took the day off and after the Family visit to the dentist, we made our way to Sentosa..encouraging a healthy lifestyle, we parked at Vivo and walked 750m across to Sentosa via the boardwalk..
As mummy is a staff of RWS..sentosa is like her playground..everything also got discount..soo good..Daddy diam diam just follow..never need to take out his wallet haha..
Our main destination this time is the SEA Aquarium and Maritime Museum..Raphael loves to see fish and always pesters Daddy to buy a fish tank for him at home..so we guess Raphael will love this visit..
The aquarium is beautiful with clear glass offering a nice view of all the fishes on the other side..we see them..they see us..10mins into the aquarium, Raphael started to nag nag saying he wants to see the Sharks..and the sharks are the last exhibit..so we need to bear with his constant nagging from the 3 exhibit all the way to the last..and on seeing the sharks..he is dissapointed as those sharks are small..i tink he is expecting to see a 3-4 metres Great White like in the movies haha
Exiting the Aquarium, we went for the "typhoon" Theater for a 4D show..the show sprays water for the 4th D effect and we are almost drench after the show..and its cold with the wind blowing..really have the feeling like you are in the middle of a storm out at sea..
Next visit will target either the water park or USS as we still have 2 free tickets available..again no need $$$

张信哲 2013 Concert

Jeff Chang is holding a concert again..In my memory, I have attended 4 of his concerts (and i didnt pay for a single time) since 2005..I know concerts provides a different experience from listening to CDs..and i know the feeling of getting to see one's idol up close..but Gekeng's obsession with him is almost like having an "affair"..
But i dont mind having free concerts and sitting at premier seats just to accompany her..during the concert, she is totally transformed into another person..she became like a 18 year old girl..responding to her idols "你们愛我吗?"..screaming at the top of her voice..
Of all his concerts, the one i enjoyed most is his pairing with Sky Wu few years back..that was a lively and funny event..
Performance wise, Jeff's powerful voice is really a pleasure to the ears..especially if you close your eyes to appreciate his voice and ignore all the screaming "AUNTIES"..why aunties? because if you do the math..this is jeff chang's 20 plus years in the industry..and those little girls in 1990s have all become mothers..but they are still screaming like little girls throughout the concert..
For me..the only person i will pay to listen to now will be 王杰..too bad i missed his 2011 Singapore concert..wonder when will he be back..

Raphael is good at Sketching
Raphael's handwriting is atrocious as you can see below..he is a left hand boy and he writes as though he is drawing..i think compared to his peers, his writing is definitely worst then all of them..we are too lax with him and allow him to indulge too much on his ipad..
We are starting to "ration" his iPad time and focus more on his daily work from school..
His hand writing aside, we noticed that he is quite talented when it comes to drawing..he likes to sketch things that he sees..the picture of Thomas train below is a quick 2-3mins drawing from him without any reference..totally from his imagination and memory..
its not a masterpiece but we can see what he is trying to capture..we will continue to encourage him to use drawing to develop his creativity..
Taking about "creativity", he is also very good at expressing himself verbally..there was once when his Auntie Layhoon came back, bathed and wanted to go out..he commented "Aiya..you everytime come back bath then go out meet boyfriend huh..alway meet boyfriend" haha..he always surprises us with his words..

Welcome Bennett and Family Back
Date : 3rd March Sunday
We are at Terminal one to welcome back the Family back from Canada this morning..the kids are excited about getting to see Yvette and Ian again..especially Gabriel who likes Yvette so much..

Raphael's 1st Swimming Lesson
Date : 10th March Sunday
Following Auntie Sarah's recommendation, we decided to enrol Raphael with the same swimming instructor of Elsie and Chloe..the lesson is every sunday morning at 11.30am..as his is a newly formed class, he is the only student in the class for today..
As we have been bringing him to swim frequently, he is very confident and takes to water well..he is able to hold his breath for up to 6 seconds underwater and takes instructions from the instructor well.
At the end of the lesson, the instructor commented that he is very confident, too confident that its dangerous as he still cannot swim yet is not afraid of water..

Home Deco after 6 years
Its close to 7 years since we 1st got this house..in early 2005 while we started our house hunting, we didnt limit our options..we tried to ballot for flats in Redhill, Tiong Bahru, Buangkok to no avail..the price of those in the matured estate are also very high..at that time, property is starting to pick up again..we got into the market as we are genuinely looking for a flat to live in and not to "invest" or "speculate" Of course close to my heart, I am hoping to live near to my parents in Hougang, Sengkang area..we happen to chance upon some Executive Flats (133sqm) in Sengkang Compassvale area which have been left vacant for 5 years since TOP in 2001..maybe its due to the type of the flat..4-5 rooms are the norm..EA seem to be less popular then..the EAs in the whole block is not taken while the 4-5 rooms are fully occupied.. We visited the showflat and liked the layout and the size of the flat..the most important is that the price suits our budget..i think we entered the market at its lowest as the price of flats seems to be on the upward the moment we signed on the dotted line with HDB..price and size of flat wise, we never regretted it.. We spend minimum to renovate the house..approximately $20K was all we could afford then excluding furnitures and electronic applicances..we only did the basic necessary like kitchen and room wardrobe..I prefer to buy pieces of furniture to add on rather than have it all fabricated and fixed.. Looking at the pictures of the house then and now..we can see how the the deco theme remains more or less fixed, with some changes to pieces of furniture.. 2006 - when we first got the keys to our flat..raw look  the foyer area  passage way to the rooms  Gekeng standing at study room which is being hacked to expand into Dining room  the kitchen which has 2 exit  Dining Area  Kitchen  Master room floor is overlay with parquet  Proud owners  Study room before hacking away the walls to expand the dining  small Balcony   entrance area, we can see one of the entrance to the kitchen is sealed Our Designer who helped to conceptualise our kitchen and living room..  the kitchen concept is adapted 100%  the living room concept with the focus on the ceiling cornice..wanted a classical look which i think we managed to achieve 2006 - Our house when we 1st moved in after marriage..
